#2 Lord Thompson Manor Thompson, CT- PHOTOGRAPHERS TOP CHOICE | Budget 35k-65k
Style, Class, Elegance & all inclusive! These are the words that come to mind when I think of the elegant Lord Thompson Manor Estate. The most expensive Wedding Venue on this list but well worth its value. Booking your Wedding at this extravagant venue you will not just have a Wedding Day but a Wedding Weekend!
A Wedding at the Lord Thompson Manor includes an entire weekend retreat . Over the course of the weekend, you can utilize the Manor and Cottage House for your Rehearsal Dinner, Late Night Gathering, Spa, Wedding Reception, After Party and Farewell Breakfast. This venue will set your pocket back a few but the prices are nothing if you compare them to an entire Weekend retreat getaway for your Wedding. Shooting several Weddings here over my career few other venues can compare when it comes to Luxury and the perfect timeless backdrop for your Wedding photos!
Photo Must Haves: Beautiful elegant staircases, sprawling lawns and gardens, beautiful architecture, Beautiful garden terrace for ceremony, Balcony overlooking the lawn for speeches. The list goes on & on!
#3 Wadsworth Mansion Middletown, CT | Budget 20k-55k
Did someone say The Great Gatsby? Teleport back in time for your Wedding day to this Grand Estate in Middletown CT. Wadsworth Mansion definitely makes a statement when it comes to the grounds & photo opportunities! One of the lesser priced venues on this, but don’t let the price fool you, there is still plenty to be offered if you choose Wadsworth as your Wedding Venue.
The food and the service is impeccable and the architecture and maintenance of the grounds are unmatched to any other rival southern CT Wedding Venue.
Shooting a Wedding at this estate I love to focus on the grounds and the main level of the building with its art deco 19th century charm, that being said my only gripe as a photographer is the lack of luster when it comes to the upper floors including the bridal suite. Although the upper levels could use a splash of elegance the remainder of the property delivers on its promise as a next level elegant and stylish Wedding Venue.
Photo Must Haves: Main entrance driveway shot, Elegant grand staircase, Pine forest, elegant sprawling gardens, Grapevines garden.
#4 Aria Prospect, CT | 20k-50k
Nestled atop a beautiful hill overlooking Prospect CT is Aria. The venue features two elegant, European-style ballrooms both ballrooms offer amazing views from their mountaintop perch. From the balcony of the grand staircase to the breathtaking views from every window, photo opportunities abound. The food is some of the best I have ever experienced and that’s saying a lot out of the 50 + venues I have shot at throughout my career. Their spacious and elegant bridal suite is perfect for photos. My only complaint with this venue is they offer double weddings. Although the grounds are separated for each Wedding party you cannot access the entire venue for photo opportunities. Outside of this for the price point this would be one of my favorite locations for my clients who are look for a more modern, sleek & elegant Wedding experience.
Photo Must Haves: Cinderella Carriage, Large Fountain, Black iron gates, Sunset photos, Large foyer with glass Chandelier.
#5 Mayflower Inn & Spa Washington, CT | 25k-50k
Chic, trendy, new-age & tastefully decorated. The Mayflower Inn looks like it has come straight out of a Pinterest Board “#chicweddingvenues“. The Mayflower Inn would definitely be higher up on my list if I was able to experience a FULL Wedding Day. Although I have only shot at this captivating and trendy venue once with my elopement clients it ticked all the boxes for me as a Top 5 Worthy contender with these other large wedding venues.
One of the most tastefully decorated hotels I have seen in CT; the Mayflower Inn accommodates small, intimate Weddings & large 200+ events with their tented Weddings.
The food and ambiance of this Inn is 5 Stars and the manicured grounds make photo opportunities plentiful. The Wedding Coordinator for their Inn was extremely accommodating and made my job as a photographer easy. I am definitely looking forward to my next opportunity to shoot at the beautiful venue so I can quickly move them up my list of Top 5!
Photo Must Haves: Pond, Manicured grounds with pond, Trendy & Chic Entry Way & Staircase, Zen garden.
#6 The Eisenhower House Newport, RI | 20k +
One of the more affordable options on this list is The Eisenhower House in Newport RI. Situated next to the Fort Adams State Park and with views of the Newport Bridge & Narragansett Bay you are in for a treat with the expansive photography options available to you. Built in 1873 this estate was originally owned by President Eisenhower as his summer home as was acquired by the State of RI in the 1960’s. The home is elegant and timeless, you wont find any modern décor here. Another large plus is this venue can accommodate over 300 Guests! If you are looking for beautiful views & historic charm go no further then the Eisenhower House.
Photo Must Haves: 3 Season Porch, Sprawling grounds overlooking Narragansett Bay.
